Who is Ayatollah Arafi, appointed as Iran's interim Supreme Leader after Khamenei's killing?
Iran has appointed Ayatollah Alireza Arafi as its interim Supreme Leader, following Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's death in US-Israeli airstrikes. The 67-year-old, who is a senior cleric and insider in Iran's religious and political hierarchy, studied in Iran's principle seminary city Qom. Arafi chaired Al-Mustafa International University and was appointed to the Guardian Council in 2019.
