Who is BR Gavai, set to take oath as next Chief Justice of India?

Born in Amravati, Maharashtra, Justice BR Gavai began his legal journey in 1985. He trained under Advocate General Raja S Bhonsale and later practiced independently, focusing on constitutional and administrative law. He served as a government pleader before becoming a Bombay High Court judge in 2003. He was elevated to the Supreme Court in 2019.
