Gurindervir Singh, who became the fastest Indian by running 100m race in 10.09 seconds, was born in Patial village in Punjab's Jalandhar district on December 24, 2000. He began athletics at the age of six. Gurindervir's father was a national-level volleyball player, while his grandfather was a kabaddi player and served in Army.
