Who is Jean Dreze? Economist detained during CJP protest in Delhi

Belgian-born Indian economist Jean Dreze was detained during CJP protests in New Delhi over alleged electoral roll irregularities. Known as the 'Barefoot Economist', he has worked extensively on poverty, hunger and social welfare. Dreze co-authored books with Amartya Sen and contributed to India's rights-based welfare framework, including MGNREGA, the RTI Act, and the National Food Security Act.
