Indian-origin Shankh Mitra, CEO of Welltower, received a $821-million (approximately ₹7,700-crore) pay package, according to the Wall Street Journal, making him 2025's second-highest-paid executive in the S&P 500. Nearly 99% of Mitra's pay consisted of stock grants, including $789 million awarded in October 2025. Trillionaire Elon Musk remains the highest-paid with a $158.4 billion pay from Tesla.
