Who is Tukaram Mundhe, IAS officer leading Maharashtra's food safety crackdown?
Tukaram Mundhe, a 2005-batch IAS officer, has been serving as Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner since May 2026. Known for his strict administrative style, he has reportedly been transferred 25 times in 21 years. Since taking charge, Mundhe has intensified crackdowns on food adulteration, including suspending the license of Mumbai's iconic ice cream parlour, K Rustom & Co.
