India contributed the name Murasu to the list of names used for tropical cyclones over the North Indian Ocean. It means an ancient musical instrument, a drum. Murasu could be the first Tamil name given to a cyclone in the region since 2004. The name was chosen because the instrument was traditionally used to warn people about natural disasters.
