General Upendra Dwivedi, who has taken charge as 30th Chief of Army Staff, is a resident of Madhya Pradesh who attended Sainik School and joined NDA in 1981. The 60-year-old belongs to J&K Rifles and excelled in sports during military education. With 40 years of service in Armed Forces, Dwivedi has led counter-terrorism operations and contributed to Indo-Myanmar border management.
