Who was Dr Narendra Dabholkar, activist shot dead in 2013?

Dr Narendra Dabholkar, who was shot dead while on a morning walk on Pune's Omkareshwar Bridge in August 2013, was a social activist, physician and author. He was the founder of Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti, aimed at eradicating superstitious practices from the state. A CBI probe revealed that his murder was planned by a Hindu group called Sanatan Sanstha.
