Israel has recovered thousands of items belonging to Eli Cohen, its most renowned spy, who was publicly hanged in Syria's Damascus in 1965. Born in Egypt in 1924 to Jewish parents, Cohen was expelled after the 1956 war, when Israel occupied the Sinai. He immigrated to Israel in 1957 and carried out a deep-infiltration mission in Syria during the 1960s.
