Faqir Chand Kohli, the founding CEO of TCS who was called the 'father of Indian IT/software industry', was born and raised in Peshawar. He received a bachelor's in electrical engineering from Canada's Queen's University and a master's degree from MIT. In 1951, he joined Tata Electric Companies (now Tata Power) and in 1968, he was tasked with running TCS.
