Why 1.42 lakh Karnataka consumers may lose free electricity

Around 1.42 lakh consumers under Karnataka's Gruha Jyothi scheme may lose their free electricity benefit after a four-month BESCOM survey found they had not completed verification or submitted required documents. The survey covered eight districts under BESCOM's jurisdiction, where 74 lakh consumers are registered. BESCOM will submit its findings to the Energy Department for a final decision.
