Why are Bengaluru vendors protesting the Footpath Clearance Drive?

Street vendors in Bengaluru staged a protest against the ongoing footpath clearance drive, alleging illegal evictions and violations of the Street Vendors Act, 2014. They demanded the restoration of vending spaces, the return of seized goods, proper vendor surveys and legal protection. While the bandh received a mixed response, hundreds gathered at Freedom Park to press their demands.
