Why are India's Tier-2, Tier-3 cities outpacing megacities in tech hiring?

India's Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities are recording a 95% YoY rise in active openings to 41,000 in September 2026, while hiring demand in megacities has slowed. This is driven by lower real estate and operating costs, better talent retention and government incentives which attract mid-sized Global Capability Centres (GCCs). Ahmedabad, Coimbatore, Kochi are some cities leading growth in tech hiring.
