Why are mountains still dry and snow-free this winter?

Most Himalayan peaks are unusually snow-free this year, raising concerns among locals and tourists alike. The prolonged absence of snowfall is due to the continued activation of weak western disturbances, according to weather expert Dr Chandramohan. Stating that these disturbances usually bring scattered snowfall, he said, "This year, neither mountains nor plains experienced strong winter spells."
