Why are some taxpayers still waiting for their ITR refunds?

Many taxpayers are still waiting for their ITR refunds months after the September 16 deadline. While most returns are processed within four to five weeks of e-verification, delays often occur due to unvalidated bank accounts, Aadhaar-PAN mismatches, or discrepancies in Form 26AS or AIS. The Income Tax Department urges taxpayers to track updates on the e-Filing portal.
