Why did Albert Einstein refuse Israel's Presidency?

Albert Einstein, who was a Jew, was offered presidency of Israel after the death of Israel's first president Chaim Weizmann in 1952. Einstein refused the offer citing "personal shortcomings", such as lack of relevant skills and his advancing age. "I lack both the natural aptitude and the experience to deal properly with people," Einstein had said, as per Encyclopaedia Britannica.
