Why did Israel and US strike Khamenei on Saturday morning?

Israel and US put the operation into motion to strike Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Saturday morning, after learning that he was meeting his top advisers at a high-security compound in Tehran, Reuters reported. He was expected to hold the meeting on Saturday evening, but Israeli intelligence learnt about new plans. Khamenei was struck first to maintain a surprise.
