Why did it suddenly rain in March in Delhi?

A chain of western disturbances, low-pressure systems originating over Mediterranean Sea brought unexpected rain, thunderstorms and cooler temperatures to Delhi and northern India on March 15. As the system moved across Pakistan into plains, it carried moisture and strong winds to Delhi-NCR. IMD said showers could lower temperatures by 3-7°C and delay severe heatwave conditions until mid-April.
