Why did Sachin Tendulkar not play T20 World Cup 2007?

Sachin Tendulkar was not part of India’s squad that won T20 World Cup 2007 on September 24, 2007. Then-captain Rahul Dravid told selector Dilip Vengsarkar that Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and he did not want to be considered, saying they felt younger players should play. Former India manager Lalchand Rajput later claimed Dravid persuaded Tendulkar and Ganguly to skip the tournament.
