Why did UP court acquit Rahul Gandhi in case over defaming Amit Shah?
A UP court acquitted Rahul Gandhi in a defamation case over his 2018 remarks against Amit Shah, saying that political leaders questioning each other's credibility during elections is an "indispensable feature of a healthy democracy". The court added that Gandhi's statement didn't meet the higher threshold for defamation. BJP leader Vijay Mishra wasn't an aggrieved person, the court further said.
