According to Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity, an astronaut travelling in space with his twin staying back at Earth may age slower due to a phenomenon called time dilation. Einstein treated time as a relative quantity which depended on an observer's relative speed to another observer. However, the relativistic effects could arise due to varying gravitational forces too.
