Why does Bangladesh want to join Pakistan-Saudi-Turkiye's defence pact?

Bangladesh has said it is open to joining the defence pact between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye. Saudi Arabia was Bangladesh's biggest remittance source in the 2025-26 financial year, contributing about $5.28 billion in the first 11 months. Turkey provides drones, frigates and armoured vehicles to Bangladesh, while Pakistan supplies fighter jets such as the JF-17 Thunder, and naval vessels.
