Why does Indian Railways provide two bed sheets in AC coaches?

Railways give passengers in AC coaches two bed sheets to improve hygiene and comfort. In a written Rajya Sabha reply, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said one sheet is spread on berth, while the other is placed beneath the blanket. This prevents direct contact between the blanket and passenger. The second sheet is washed after every use, ensuring cleanliness, he added.
