Why does Pak celebrate Independence Day on Aug 14, a day before India?

The last viceroy of British India, Lord Mountbatten, transferred power to Pakistan on August 14, 1947, reportedly so that he could be in New Delhi the following day for India’s Independence Day celebrations. Another theory suggests Pakistan chose August 14 because it coincided with the 27th day of Ramadan, considered an auspicious date in the Islamic lunar calendar.
