Why does Spot robot walk backwards while climbing down stairs?

The Spot robot of Boston dynamics has backward bent legs. If this robot tries to climb down stairs in a normal way, these legs will collide with stairs and the robot will collapse. This is shown in the sub picture. The solution - just walk backward (shown in main pic). Visual cameras at the back assist this operation, how smart!
