France announced temporary ban on public alcohol consumption and sales in Paris to ease pressure on its hospitals during the heatwave. Police said, "Drinking alcohol with the sun beating down can have a devastating effect." Alcohol is a diuretic, which makes kidneys expel more fluid, and leads to dehydration that can be dangerous during heatwave, as per UK charity Drinkaware.
