Why has PM Modi asked Indians to cut edible oil usage amid Iran war?

PM Narendra Modi appealed to Indians to reduce edible oil usage as it's a major component of India's forex bill. India imports palm oil from Indonesia and Malaysia, while sunflower oil is imported from Russia and Ukraine. If the rupee falls, the cost of every imported litre rises too. Though domestic alternatives like mustard oil exist, they can't replace imports.
