Why is a silver coin placed inside the kheer bowl on Sharad Purnima?

Sharad Purnima is associated with Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth and prosperity, and Chandra, the Moon deity. Some devotees place a silver coin inside kheer and leave it out under the full moon, believing its rays carry nectar-like qualities. Silver is considered auspicious in Hindu traditions. However, placing a silver coin inside kheer is not a universal ritual.
