Why is fig or anjeer considered a 'non-vegetarian fruit'?
Figs, also known as anjeer, are considered to be a non-vegetarian fruit by some people due to their pollination process through wasps. Female wasps lose their wings while entering inside the fig, which is an inverted flower. Unable to escape, the wasp lays its eggs and dies inside. Upon hatching, the wasp larvae mate inside and the fertilised females escape.
