Why is Germany punishing Amazon with a massive fine?

Germany’s competition regulator has fined Amazon $69.5 million for anti-competitive pricing practices. The authority barred Amazon from using automated tools to set prices for independent sellers on its marketplace, saying the conduct violated German and EU rules. Amazon has one month to appeal the decision before the Federal Court of Justice.
