Why is India expected to see above normal rainfall this year?

The transition of weakening El Nino in the Pacific Ocean into a neutral condition and emergence of La Nina towards latter half of the season could contribute to India witnessing above normal rainfall, IMD said. It added a positive Indian Ocean Dipole, which is Indian Ocean counterpart of El Nino, could emerge during monsoon season's beginning, resulting in good rainfall.
