Why is it summer despite Earth being farthest from Sun in July?

Earth reaches aphelion, farthest point from Sun in its orbit, on July 6, placing it about 152 million kilometres from Sun. Despite the distance, parts of Earth experience summer because seasons aren't determined by distance but by the 23.5° tilt of Earth's axis. In July, the Northern Hemisphere is tilted towards the Sun while Southern Hemisphere, pointed away, experiences winter.
