Bombay HC questioned why Mumbai's pollution levels exceeded Delhi's despite its coastal location and sea breezes. Atmospheric scientist Gufran Beig attributed the deterioration partly to slower winds linked to El Niño patterns, and hot and humid weather, which trap pollutants in lower atmosphere. Construction and redevelopment activities are also contributing to the city's worsening air quality.
