Why is Nitish Kumar stepping down, months after becoming Bihar CM?

Nitish Kumar, who became Bihar CM on November 20, 2025, confirmed that he's stepping down as Bihar CM. According to a report in The Indian Express, sources said JD(U) leadership was forced to take decision on Nitish due to health concerns. Another reason being cited is a possible succession plan with reports saying that Nitish's son Nishant may enter politics.
