Why is the relationship between father-son duo so complicated?

A parenting coach says it’s the male ego that clashes between son and father as the former grows up. Fathers are so accustomed to having their own way, because they have enjoyed unquestioned leadership over the years. Whereas, sons, as they grow up, develop a mind of their own and often feel competitive with their fathers.
