Why is the setting sun worshipped first during Chhath Puja?
Chhath Puja's tradition of offering the first Arghya to the setting sun symbolises respect for both rising and setting phases of life. Devotees believe the ritual teaches that just as the sun rises again after setting, difficult times also give way to better days. The offering also reflects prayers for children's long life and family prosperity.
