Why is tonight's full Moon called the Flower Moon?

This month's full Moon, known as the Flower Moon, will light up the night sky on Friday. The Algonquin tribes in the northeastern United States called it the Flower Moon due to the abundance of flowers blooming at this time of year. Other names include the Corn Moon, Corn Planting Moon, Milk Moon and Hare's Moon.
