US is risking a government shutdown on October 1 if Congress fails to pass spending bills. A government shutdown happens when Congress doesn't approve bills that fund government operations and all nonessential functions of government are ceased. Currently, the Republicans are demanding a cut in fiscal spending, opposing to Ukraine aid and are seeking an impeachment inquiry against Joe Biden.
