Why is World Hindi Day celebrated on January 10?

World Hindi Day is celebrated on January 10 to continue tradition of discussing various aspects of Hindi language. The first-ever World Hindi Day was held on January 10, 2006 under ex-PM Manmohan Singh's leadership. January 10 was chosen because the first World Hindi Conference was inaugurated on January 10, 1975 in Nagpur, which was attended by delegates from 30 countries.
