Why movie tickets & live shows may soon get costlier in Bengaluru?

Residents of Bengaluru may soon pay more for movies, TV entertainment and live shows after the Fifth State Finance Commission recommended an entertainment tax under the Greater Bengaluru Authority. The levy, enabled by the Greater Bengaluru Governance Act, 2024, could generate around ₹300 crore annually to help the city’s newly formed civic bodies address their financial challenges.
