Why some BBL roof hits are called six, and some are called dead

Batters were rewarded six runs for hitting the retractable roof of the Docklands Stadium in the previous Big Bash League seasons. However, a third rule change mentioned that batters will no longer be getting awarded automatic six runs for hitting the Marvel Stadium roof, with the umpires deciding whether the ball would have cleared the boundary.
