Why Stubbs opened the batting for South Africa against England

Tristan Stubbs walked in to open the innings for the first time in his international career during South Africa's run chase against England in Champions Trophy 2025. With Tony de Zorzi, who opened against Afghanistan, being ill and Heinrich Klaasen returning, South Africa promoted Stubbs. Overall, Stubbs has batted eight out of nine times at the No.4 position or lower.
