Usman Khawaja said he chose to retire after the Sydney Ashes Test so he could leave on his own terms with dignity. He said the tough start to the series and missing selection in Adelaide convinced him it was time to move on. Khawaja added he was never staying on for selfish reasons, after long talks with his wife Rachel.
