Why voters must press four EVM buttons in Municipal Elections 2026

Voters in January 2026 municipal elections will have to cast four votes instead of one due to the new multi-member ward system in 28 municipalities, excluding Mumbai. Multiple colour-coded EVMs will be placed inside booths, and voters must press a button on each machine. Missing even one vote will make the ballot invalid.
