Why Xi give Trump tour of China's most guarded political compound?

During US President Donald Trump's visit to China, President Xi Jinping gave him a tour of Zhongnanhai, the heavily guarded leadership compound of Communist Party. Xi hosted Trump there as a gesture of reciprocity after being invited to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in 2017. While meeting Trump, Xi also noted that he "very rarely" hosts foreign leaders at the compound.
