WII to estimate population of all 4 bear species in India

The Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Dehradun, will estimate populations of all four bear species — Himalayan brown bear, Asiatic black bear, sloth bear, and sun bear. The exercise will primarily focus on human-sloth bear conflict in protected areas. Proposals for the other three species will be forwarded separately, with final numbers expected in five years.
