Wikipedia partners with Microsoft, Meta on AI content training

The Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit behind Wikipedia, on Thursday unveiled partnerships with Microsoft, Meta, Amazon, Perplexity and Mistral AI for AI training. Under the partnership, the companies get access to a premium version of Wikipedia's API for a fee. "Wikipedia is a critical component of these tech companies' work," senior Wikimedia executive Lane Becker said.
