Wildfires in Algeria kill 34 people, thousands evacuated
At least 34 people have been killed and thousands evacuated after wildfires broke out across Algeria. Ten soldiers were killed battling the fires in Bejaia, the hardest-hit area, Defence Ministry said. Nearly 8,000 firefighters are working to bring the blaze under control. Temperatures soaring above 40°C and parched grounds have sparked fires in countries on both sides of the Mediterranean.
