Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that he will not give back Crimea to Ukraine under any circumstances. Russia had annexed the Crimean Peninsula from Ukraine in 2014 following which pro-Russian separatists took control over the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Earlier this year, the Ukrainian Parliament declared that the regions were "temporarily occupied" by "aggressor" state Russia.
